JUDGEMENT DAY FOR VAN GAAL?
The big match for today, the match in which all eyes will be on, off course you know na, I don't need to mention it.
Van Gaal's Manchester United coming from their worst run in 54years, six games without a win and four straight losses are going to be in a crucial clash with the reigning champions. Yes I called them the reigning champions, most of us have even forgotten this fact because of their total drop this season. Chelsea who just appointed Guus Hiddink as interim manager after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho really have nothing much to loose or prove in this crucial match...........I think. The pressure is not on Hiddink but on his compatriot Van Gaal, the man whom all(or most) of attention will be focused.
After United's most recent loss at stoke city, Van Gaal said the players are to blame for the loss not him, that they couldn't cope with the pressure. If you recall, Mourinho also made similar statement statement after his last match as Chelsea boss, when he said the Chelsea players have betrayed him. So is this now the new line for managers who are about to be axed??
Many fans around the world and even the press believe that this is the day of reckoning for Van Gaal who has said in his pre-match press conference "I'm running out of ideas....."
He sure looks like it.
Van gaal's tactics has been criticized widely, his formations, players he starts, choice of substitutions have all been questioned. Generally, you can all agree with me that this is not the Manchester United we used to know. It's normal for the playing style to change when there's a new manager but not acceptable when the results are poor.
This match I think is beyond the manager's tactics because it's a rivalry. Players like Rooney, Smalling, Jones and Carrick will not want to loose against Chelsea no matter the tactics. So the big QUESTION is....
SHOULD VAN GAAL STILL RETAIN HIS JOB EVEN IF MAN UTD WINS?
areasportz prediction. Man Utd 2 Chelsea 1
